Hi there, welcome to the Hope Presbyterian Library!

The mission of the church library is to encourage interest in reading Christian literature to all members of the congregation to further their Christian journey. We also aim to support the preaching team by having relevant books available for those who want to delve deeper into the sermon topics. We currently have over 2000 books and DVDs across the Hornby, Rolleston and West Melton sites.

  • Books can be borrowed for 3 weeks at a time. Limit of 3 per person at any one time.

    Books may be renewed for a second period upon application to one of the librarians at their discretion, unless it has a reserve request or is recently new to the library.

    DVD’s can be borrowed for 1 week at a time. Limit of 2 per family at any one time.

    Items borrowed must be recorded in the borrowing book with a clear record of the borrower’s name and contact phone number.

    Older books may be located under ‘Back Catalogue’. These can be borrowed through contacting the church library email.

  • Items are to be returned by placing through the slot in Returns Box, NOT by putting directly back on shelves.

    They will then be checked and marked off in the Borrowing Book by one of the librarians, NOT the returner.

  • The librarians will monitor the dates items are due back and contact the borrowers to remind them when they become overdue.

    If the item is not returned within 3 months of being overdue and without satisfactory explanation, the Hope Leadership Team will be notified. This may result in an invoice being sent to the borrower to cover replacement cost.

    No further borrowing until all overdue items are returned.

  • Items may be reserved by speaking to one of the librarians and a note will be placed beside the item in the Borrowing Book.

    Reserving items/general enquiries can be made via the church library email.

  • Donations of good quality Christian books and DVD’s are appreciated but will be put on the shelves at the discretion of the librarians, taking into account condition, space available, content, etc.
