Hornby Building Refresh
Welcome to our Hope Hornby Building Refresh page!
Our church family has deep roots in the Hornby community, with a legacy of faithfulness and vision that spans more than a century. Since 1910, our buildings have served as places of worship, connection, and mission. The current facility, opened in 1968 and significantly renovated in 1991–93 and again in 2000, reflects the dedication and foresight of those who came before us—many of whom are still part of our whānau today. We stand on their shoulders with gratitude.
Now, as we step into a long-awaited building refresh for the Hornby site, we carry forward the same values that have guided each project in the past: prayerful dependence, wise stewardship, and a heart to serve both those who are here now and those yet to come. This project flows from our 2024–2028 Missional Framework, where one of our key priorities is to "be a warm and inviting church that people are happy to call home." We believe this includes being faithful custodians of the spaces we gather in—ensuring they reflect our heart for hospitality, belonging, and worship.
This is our spiritual home, our tūrangawaewae—a place where we come together to worship God and grow in community. We invite you to view the concept plans, follow the latest updates, and engage with the documents provided. As we prepare our spaces for the future, let’s continue to uphold this process in prayer, believing that the work we do now will bless generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback and ideas on our initial concept plans. We've received some helpful suggestions, which the PSC has reviewed and given reflections on in the downloadable file below. Similar ideas have been grouped together, and we've worked to ensure that everyone's contributions are heard and considered.
