Families at Hope Hornby

Haere mai!

Family life is our first blueprint of relationships and our first experience of community. Our Families Ministry is dedicated to resourcing, supporting, strengthening, and empowering families in all of their beautiful diversity, to be a place of safety, fun, growth, and development. We encourage the expression of faith in real and tangible ways, both in the lives of individuals and as a cohesive family unit.

Our congregation is spread geographically and we wanted members to have the opportunity to meet more than just on Sundays. That's why our Families Ministry was established, aiming to form tighter bonds among families within our congregation. By creating opportunities for caring and supporting each other through life's challenges and joys, we foster a sense of belonging and genuine community.

We offer various resources and support systems, including parenting and marriage seminars and courses, mentoring, social gatherings and events, and encourage active family involvement in the church community life. Strengthening intergenerational relationships is also a key focus, as we believe that sharing life experiences and wisdom across generations enriches and uplifts our entire congregation.

WHANAU DINNERS

First Sunday of the month, 5:00pm
Hope Presbyterian Hornby, 27 Amyes Road

As a church we recognise that in a cost of living crisis, feeding families can be hard. We want to provide a free meal and invite families to come along once a month and connect with each other and eat together. We’re aiming this at families who have school aged children - the time in our lives which is often most pressured! We will be eating in our church café and there will be a short talk from a Christian perspective tackling the tough stuff in our lives, for example; is there more to life than the daily grind, and why is it such a struggle?
